Are you spending time on things that bring you joy?
This week on The Artist’s Way is all about recovering a sense of identity. And, one of my favourite exercises this week was writing down 20 things I enjoy doing and the last time I let myself do them.
I knew the pandemic has been challenging but wow, it really hit me when I saw how many things I love I haven’t been able to do. Like:
- Hanging out with my friends. (Although, I am grateful I at least had this one trip):
2. Dressing up in something fancy. The last time I dressed up was at my brother-in-law’s wedding, and he’s had a baby since then!
3. Going to a bookstore. Remember how fun it was to just browse and be inspired by all the new releases?
4. Going out dancing. This is the last picture I have in a club…and it’s from 2019… The pandemic might not be to blame for this one!
Pandemic aside, I also realise that there’s more I could be doing to find time to do the things I enjoy. So the challenge this week is to start small and do just a tiny thing that you haven’t done in a while from that list.
